‘Matura’ Cupcake Bouquet

No……. not ‘mature’ cupcake bouquet but ‘Matura’

When I first arrived in Austria I didn’t know a single word of German except for a couple of words such as Danke, Auf Wiedersehen, Nein, the numbers 1 – 10 and of course a couple of swear words but we won’t get into that. When I first heard the word ‘Matura’ I thought it had something to do with ‘mature’, but how wrong was I.

‘Matura’ is an examination taken by students at the end of highschool and generally it must be passed in order for the students to attend university or another institute of higher education.

Well I guess I wasn’t too far in my thinking that it meant ‘mature’ as the students are 17 -18 so they are young adults maturing??   😉

With that all said and at the request of my girlfriend I made this beautiful Matura Cupcake Bouquet for her daughter who just graduated. I remember meeting my girlfriend’s daughter 4 years ago, she was a shy teenager who has blossomed to be a beautiful mature young woman. Her parents have done a magnificent job bringing her up and I am sure she will do them proud as she embarks on her next adventure of university.

The bouquet is similar to the Rose Cupcake Bouquet.

My girlfriend supplied me with everything she knew her daughter would love – Funfetti cake mix, graduation themed picks and even graduation cupcake liners.

My job was to bake, decorate and try to make it look as pretty as I could. I have to admit I was a bit nervous as to how it would turn out. At first glance it looks quite dangerous with all the graduation picks sticking out but  this actually helped and stopped the cellophane wrap from touching the frosting.

I also made red velvet cake pops coated with white chocolate sprinkled with confetti to tie in with the theme.

The reaction says it all.

A lovely surprise gift from mother to daughter.

The gorgeous graduate!!

Looks like the cake pops taste delicious.

I think the end result was a success too?
