Some of you might remember Sophia from when I started this blog where I made pool party cupcakes and a DIY cupcake tower.
Well Sophia’s brother Mateo recently celebrated his 6th birthday. Following in the footsteps of his sister he too had a pool party but he requested a golf birthday cake after seeing my golf cake here.
As it was a kid’s birthday party, what better way to save mum from cutting cake and having to worry about plates and forks than to have a pull apart cupcake birthday cake.
Lets not waste any more time and tee off!
Mateo requested…….. what better flavour than………. chocolate! So I couldn’t go past baking yummy Nutella cupcakes, this super moist recipe can be found here.
The frosting was vanilla buttercream coloured with gel food colouring.
For the sand bunker I used crushed finger biscuits which gave it the lovely fine sand effect.
For the grass I used the Wilton grass tip nr. 233 and all the decorations were made using fondant.
I was very pleased Mateo loved his birthday cake and it was a huge hit with all the kids. There is nothing more pleasing to me than to see the smiles on the kids faces. To hear their oOoOos and ahhhhs and their cute little voices saying ‘yum’ & ‘mmMmMm’ as they lick the frosting and then bite into the soft cupcake.
I didn’t get a hole in 1 but it was a fun game

Thanks everyone for all your lovely and supportive comments. I had fun decorating this cupcake cake
although it did awhile as I had slight challenges with the grass tip but it all paid off to see the beaming smile of the birthday boy and the kids just devouring into it
Nothing was left expect for a few cupcakes which mum and dad could enjoy in peace and quiet together.
